Pioneer Oil Museum

Bolivar, Allegany County

Tri-County Arts Council (TAC), located in a historic row of buildings in downtown Olean, “advocates for the creation and appreciation” of art in Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. TAC accomplishes this through classes, workshops, exhibitions, community events, and an artisan marketplace that supports local artists. Formally founded in 1997 as the Cattaraugus County Arts Council with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, the council expanded its service area to Allegany County in 2003 and Chautauqua County in 2009.The organization was initially based out of the former Allegany High School building at 80 N. 4th St. in Allegany, NY.

The Spark

As New York’s oil history began disappearing, local producers came together to preserve the stories and artifacts of the industry they knew firsthand.
